REASONS TO CHOOSE CYPRUS

Fantastic Universities to Choose From :

With an extensive secondary, as well as higher education systems in place, Cyprus offers a range of public and private institutions for International students to choose from. There are thousands of students across the globe who choose one of the Cypriot universities to finish their higher studies, in a variety of subjects ranging from medicine to tourism management, to computer science, and so on. The admission requirements needed to get into one of their universities is the same as for any other European academic institution. While they need a decent TOEFL or IELTS score to take in students, they also offer a wide array of language courses, designed to help students who could not, for whatever reasons, get enough credit points in English.

Well-designed Business Programmes :

Universities in Cyprus offer an abundance of courses and programmes related to management. In addition, their MBA programmes are designed in a way, so as to ensure they cater to the exact requirements presented by the local economy of the place. The largest employers in the country are their banks, as well as holding companies, which also play a relevant role in the international trade scene. Hence, the B-schools and many other educational institutions in Cyprus have created their courses to adapt to the local business sector, therefore ensuring high employability of students who graduate from there.

Their Education System is More Than Just a Pass-Fail System :

Most of the colleges see the start of their academic year in February, or else, in October. But, if you are an international student, it is best if you get yourself registered at least two to three weeks prior. Universities in Cyprus do not generally have a pass-fail exam system. Instead, their testing system involves a lot of research essays, as well as group projects. Students usually take two exams in each of the subjects of courses - one in the middle, and then the next during the term-end time.

Great Accommodation and Other Facilities :

Students, both local and international, are provided with the basic conditions they'd need for comfortable accommodation and successful studying. They have a system of accommodation so designed, that they try to give primary preference to foreigners as well as any newcomers; but, the practice followed more widely is the ‘first come, first served’. While every major university and/or college has its own dormitory, you can also choose to rent a place, though that could prove to be a rather expensive option. All the institutions being well-funded by the government, have fully-stocked libraries, decent mess halls, and assistance offices with people always their feet to cater to any challenge that might arise in an international campus.

A Highly Affordable High Standard of Living :

Rather than going to a university in one of the major European cities, you will find Cyprus to be extremely affordable. Whether it's eating out or booking a taxi or experiencing the amazing nightlife, the country offers a high standard of living without poking holes in your pockets. This lovely Mediterranean island is also considered safe, especially when compared to the more populated and metropolitan countries, such as the UK or USA. With the crime ratio being less than 1%, you can rest assured, your time studying in a Cyprus university will be a peaceful one.

Credit Transfer System :

European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) is an important element of the Cyprus education system which is meant to help foreign students make the most of their study abroad experience. Thanks to this credit system, students from EU-countries can freely go abroad to study for a degree which will be accepted in universities all across the European Union.

Once-in-a-lifetime Experience :

Students coming to Cyprus universities from abroad find various opportunities to combine education, work, as well as pleasure here. They find an array of sports and leisure options to choose from. The quality of education in the country prepares students to work and make something of themselves in today’s global marketplace. Plus, the pleasant Mediterranean climate with the average temperature ranging between 8 to 17 degree Celsius during winters, while 32 to 38 degree Celsius during summers is a treat for all. They don’t call the Cyprus weather the world's second best weather for no reason after all!

EDUCATION SYSTEM IN CYPRUS

It is the Ministry of Education and Culture that oversees education in this country.

The education system has been divided into:

Postgraduate degrees include Master's degrees, and the Doctorate degree that take at least three years in most cases. In order to issue a degree, a university would require accreditation. There is a whole network of state as well as private universities and colleges offering higher or tertiary education in Cyprus. Private universities were first given accreditation in the year 2005 under the 2005 Private Universities law; they are required to have a special license in order to operate as well as award degrees.
